COACHING / MENTORING

The strongest focus of the SOS Foundation is to coach and mentor young people so that they can discover their true potential. Our belief is not to reinvent the wheel of development and life-skill programmes, but rather to collaborate and synergize with existing programmes that are working within our scope of development.

The most under-rated gap in the development space has been mentorship/ support for young people exiting youth programmes. The lack of ensuring that youth move from one programme to a next in order to make a greater impact on the future of a young person and to develop into a more holistic leader in his or her community, has for long been the missing link to a holistic approach.

Physical, Emotional, Mental and Spiritual

SOCIAL ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

LEADERSHIP TRAINING

All our youth automatically becomes a part of THE PRESIDENT'S AWARD - its a youth empowerment programme that "exists to equip youth to succeed in life and work"

COMMUNITY OUTREACH AND ADVOCACY

All our youth will become involved with a quarterly outreach which they will plan and implement with the support of the foundation. Youth will also be encourage to participate in the Edmund Rice Justice Desk Advocacy work.

YOUTH-LED DISCUSSIONS AND WORKSHOPS

This discussions will mainly take place at the quarterly break-away camps where youth can freely engage each other.

OUR APPROACH

Physical

We encourage youth to get involved with recreational activities, that would ensure that they look after their health and fitness.

Emotional

One of our greatest functions is continues retreat and reflection workshops. Allowing our youth to break away from the daily hustle and just refocus.

Mental

AS part of this process youth get an opportunity to learn how to manage stress and learn basic Coping Skills. They also have access to a counseling if need be.

Spiritual
This section of the development is not just to strengthen your own spirituality, but also to learn more about others spirituality and the diversity thereof. Inter-faith dialogue is key process for us at this development phase.
Skills
We assist youth to explore various activities in order to expose them to a more broader field practical or personal interest.
Information, education & referral
As part of our on going support we seek opportunities for the youth in our programme to further their studies and help point them in the right direction regarding the most suitable educational institution to that they would like to further their studies in.
